Gina McCarley teaches AP Computer Science, AP Computer Science Principles (former CSP national pilot teacher) and Career Technical Courses at Lawrence County High School in Moulton, Alabama. Additionally, Gina teaches Introduction to Programming and APCS-A for the Alabama Virtual School via the Alabama ACCESS program for the Northern region of the state. Gina has been working in education since leaving industry in 1999.
Gina serves as a mentor teacher for CS4Alabama’s launch of Computer Science Principles course and was a participating pilot teacher in the CollegeBoard National Pilot of AP Computer Science Principles Phase II.
In the classroom, Gina uses multimedia tools to engage student interest and participation. Some of her most successful projects involve her students using multimedia tools to express themselves creatively and to document their exploration in problem base inquiry.
Gina, along with her husband and son, enjoys spending time at home on the family farm which is located in Bankhead National Forest. Reading and playing with her golden retrievers is how Gina spends her free time.
Jill Westerlund teaches AP Computer Science, IB Computer Science SL, Computer Science Principles AP Pilot and Dual Enrollment Computer and Information Systems at Hoover High School in Hoover, Alabama. Additionally, Jill teaches APCS-A for the Alabama Virtual School via the Alabama ACCESS program. She serves students from high schools in the central region of the state by offering APCS-A virtually. Since 1990 Jill has taught at the secondary and post-secondary levels.

Jill believes that computer technology has the ability to make life more productive, more communicative and more interesting and loves teaching and learning with others. It has been her privilege to share a professional journey with so many wonderful students, parents, peers and administrators.
She and her husband have two sons who keep life very busy. The Westerlunds love to take cruises, travel to new places and attend sporting events. In Jill’s extra time she enjoys cooking, scrapbooking, sewing, knitting and enjoying the many blessings God has given her.
